Odds and Ends of Prepping

Just a hodgepodge of stuff going on here on the farm.

Made a new batch of a blended tea. It's a combination of anise (mountain mint), bee balm (bergamont) and spearmint. Tastes and smells like a minty black jelly bean!
Looks so pretty in the dehydrator as well.

Got berries everywhere! Even though we aren't getting any rain, the berries seem to love it.
Canned some strawberry desert topping this morning. Picking up more canning jars this evening and canning some chocolate raspberry jam/filling tomorrow. I'm envisioning turnovers filled with it!

And the gratitious dinner picture just for Kymber, since she always posts yummy food that she is eating!

It's what we call a gondola dog with a side of spaghetti. It's basically a italian sausage wrapped in pizza dog then I brush a mixture of olive oil, fresh herbs from the garden and parmesan cheese on it and bake.

As you can see we are keeping busy! Next week will be a round of fishing up in the Northwoods of Wisconsin along with forgaging. Hoping that we do as well or better fishing up there as we did in Kentucky.

  1. Ok, next time just start with the sausage wrapped in pizza dough...on second thought, don't. I wouldn't even bother continuing to read. That sounds crazy!

Good luck with the fishing trip!

    1. Yeah if TSHTF we at least will be well fed! It's just the 2 of us here and I always cook for a army. Plenty of leftovers!

  2. teehee - thanks for all the food pics! that gondola dog looks deelish - how long do you bake it for? i am uploading pics and then will write a post and you will be mentioned - i can't believe it but your hopi corn that you sent me is growing - woohoo - i have never grown before so i am quite thrilled! your tea sounds divine - i love different teas!!! i hope you guys catch a ton of fish next week - and have fun!

    your friend,

  3. Check road conditions if you are driving lots of flooding in MN. Not sure about Wisconsin. My dad said his river fed lake was up a foot and he had to tie the dock up with rope so it would not wash away.

A state of emergency has been declared in Duluth, due to the flooding.

    Stay safe, Beth

    1. We are gonna stay south for a few days near Monroe, WI then check radar for the northwoods. Hoping to stay up near Fond Du Lac area after that. It's been pretty rainy up there. Of course the big line of storms heading our way this evening looks like it will fizzle and go north and south of us yet again! Thanks for the concern Rob!
